EXPRESS YOURSELF Page 1 of 4 CITY OF MOUNTAIN PARK CITIZEN SURVEY JANUARY 2011 The city is updating our comprehensive plan. This is a process all Georgia municipalities engage in on a regular basis and is required by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for our City to maintain its status as a Qualified Local Government. This survey is one part in helping all of us create a vision for the future of our community. There will also be a public meeting at 9 am, Saturday February 12, 2011 at the Community Building to discuss the results of this survey and to allow input from all citizens regarding the City’s future and its Comprehensive Plan. A Comprehensive Plan will be drafted and a second meeting will follow to review the draft Comprehensive plan. Please take some time to complete this survey and help us plan for the future needs of Mountain Park. One survey should be prepared per citizen. All points of view are welcome. Providing reasons for your response is more helpful than yes or no answers - use extra paper or the back of this form. Please return to City Hall before January 28th. OUR SHARED PROPERTY How should we use our public spaces? Are there any changes you would like to see to the green? to the pool? the playground? or the lakeside pavilion? Are there other City properties that can be turned to public use? EXPRESS YOURSELF Page 2 of 4 Are there properties that the city should acquire? Are there amenities that could be added . . . a community garden . . . volley ball court . . . soccer goals . . . tennis courts . . . ? How should we go about preserving and protecting the future of the lakes? OUR SHARED ECONOMY Would you support a coffee shop, art gallery or other limited commercial use in the city? Would you support bed-and-breakfasts or weekly rentals in the city? Do you have other ideas for increasing income to support new initiatives? If necessary, would you support the issuance of bonds to fund major projects? Would you pay higher taxes to support expanded services? What are other sources of funds for City projects? EXPRESS YOURSELF Page 3 of 4 OUR GOVERNANCE Should Mountain Park continue to be a city, or should we consider annexation into Roswell? Or annex the city into Cherokee County? Are there city services that you would like to see expanded which have not been mentioned above? Are there other codes that you think should be strengthened, or enforced more strictly? Less strictly? Are there changes we should make in the structure of our government or the role of elected officials? Would you be willing to serve for a limited time on a committee such as the Citizens Review and Advisory Board for BZP, or Civic Club, or another similar committee? In addition to committee participation how can the City provide opportunities for citizens to have meaningful involvement in the decisions that affect their community? What other citizen run opportunities for involvement should there be? Should we establish a community watch program? EXPRESS YOURSELF Page 4 of 4 OUR FUTURE What is your biggest concern about Mountain Park? What are your goals for Mountain Park? Why do you choose to live in Mountain Park? What do you like? What do you dislike? Any other comments? Please provide your name or address if you like. THANK YOU FOR YOUR IDEAS Mountain Park is run almost entirely by the volunteer spirit. In what areas can you help our city? “…we are not governed by the majority; we are governed by the majority that wishes to participate.”-- Thomas Jefferson | Back to top | |
