Socialize with
more folks than the people next door! Have fun building community
projects. Help when trouble strikes. There's lots to do, right here
in Mountain Park.
Civic
Club
Founded more than thirty years ago to work together for the civic welfare of the community and neighboring communities, the Mountain Park Civic Club offers membership to any resident or property owner in the city. Annual dues are $2.00 per person. The Civic Club sponsors many events throughout the year. See The Stand: Events Calendar page on mountainparklife.com for event details when scheduled. 2008 officers are: President: Jeanne Wood, Vice President: Laurie Menden, Secretary: Suzanne Close. The Civic Club manages the Mountain Park Directory. For directory information, contact Suzanne Close.
Mountain Park Watershed Preservation Society (MPWPS)
The MPWPS applied for nonprofit corporation status in 2004. The society was formed to restore, protect and preserve the lakes, streams and wetlands of Mountain Park through community involvement, environmental monitoring, education and research, grant applications and other fund-raising activities. Although the MPWPS was organized by a group of Mountain Park residents, membership is open to all, as the health of the city’s wetlands, streams and lakes is vital to maintaining the quality of life enjoyed by every resident – as well as those from outside the city who believe in the preservation of the environment and our historical past. Join the MPWPS to help save the watershed. Memberships start at $25 for individuals, with Family, Steward, Patron, Guardian and Protector memberships also available. Call 770-641-8563 or write to P.O. Box 800042, Roswell, GA 30075-0001 for more information.
Mountain Park Green and Beautiful Program (CBP)
Citizens who like to garden, create, design, build, install, preserve,
conserve, contribute and otherwise volunteer their support to the
community are invited to join! The CBP is new and there's lots to
do. Here are some projects that might be going on at any given time:
Flower beds and tree plantings
in common areas such as City Hall, Civic and Fire Department Building,
gazebo, bus stop, welcome and directional signs, the "Green,"
city owned lots and adopted corners and intersections.
Maintaining and adding
to city structures such as the playground, gazebo, fishing bridge,
picnic pavilion, boat ramp/gate and bus stop.
Maintaining and improving
the "park at Spruce & Pine," perhaps adding paths,
additional landscaping and memorials such as a bench or tree.
Support and contribute
to existing Adopt-a-Lake and Adopt-a-Stream.
Develop "adopt-a-
"
streets and shorelines for litter control.

Mountain
Park Improvement Club (MPIC)
A loose-knit organization kicked off about six years ago, the MPIC
has completed several projects that have benefited our community.
Membership requires no dues or meeting attendance. All you have
to do is show up when a project is underway. The club's accomplishments
to-date are:
Construction of the village green foot bridge
Renovation of the picnic
pavilion
Re-grading and reinforcing
the point behind the picnic pavilion
Rebuilding the fishing
bridge over the Lake Garret dam
Constructing the new playground
equipment (including basketball goal)
Removal of the old roof
on the Civic Center and Fire Department building and installation
of a tin roof
Members benefit
far more than our city because the projects support the concepts
of community pride and spirit. Please join in when you see a MPIC
sign at the top of the hill announcing a new project -- whenever
it arises!.
