We will report in this forum on who qualifies each day this week for the open council seats as well as welcome your comments on the important issues facing the city that should be part of a candidate's platform.

On Monday, August 31, no one qualified to run for the open council seats. (Seats for Bill Pulling, Julia Neal, Bill Schmidt and Frank Baia are opening up.) If interested in running, please go to City Hall to qualify from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM (closed one hour for lunch).

To qualify, as per code:
No person shall be eligible to serve as mayor or councilman unless such
person shall have attained the age of 21 at the beginning of the term of
office and unless such person shall have been a resident of the city for a
period of one (1) year immediately prior to the date of such person's
election and shall continue to reside therein during the term of office and
shall be registered and qualified to vote in municipal elections of the City
of Mountain Park. Neither the mayor nor any councilman shall hold any other
elective or appointive office in the city.

It's time to pull the plug, this has become a joke. What an utter embarassment for the community. We are a laughingstock and deserve the dysfunctional government we seem to toil under.

Thanks to those who have stepped forward to serve our little city. We would have had more willing to serve if we didn't have so many mean spirited ingrates. Make no mistake. There are those among us who for their own narrow interest would destroy our town. They should not be ignored but none of us should bend to any scare tactics.

If it wasn’t for the expensive mistakes, I’d be for “ let the show go on “.

Residents have to volunteer to manage our money.

I would enjoy listening to every person that has been on the City Council in one big discussion involving their experiences, with only them speaking and no one else, about how we could do this better.

I appreciate them for volunteering too.
