I was just doing a few searches about the authenticity of the US Debt Clock to no success and saw your post. I was going to the Treasury to see if the amounts in the clock were legitimate and the ones I saw did match
Now Health Care will be added to the US Debt Clock both revenue and expenses. You know how that'll look. There should be some fiscal responsibility with what the government manages now before they attempt to manage more. They get $750.00 and put it in the pot and then spend $7,500.00 is what will happen.
I save my links when I research but I couldn't find out much about it.
The US Debt Clock Related Sites Below, I forgot how to name them and it's too many anyway to bother. Look at the bottom of the clock at Medicare etc. and what they've done to that.
It is how they think that bothers me and what this all will do to the value of the dollar in the future plus the interest rates. When the banks paid back the billions in TARP funds Barney Franks stated that we should give it to the poor, but it was just a statement in the news.
Now the pollution permits, that will be big business that the public will end up being charged for, it was in writing that the funds will be used to help the poor pay to offset energy costs. I don't think the Senate will let that part stay. They're looking to trade these permits on the stock exchange is how big it will be.
The problem I have is that they won't differentiate between the legal US residents that elect not to work because they are lazy and can get all of this for free and the legitimate ones that really need it. They'll give it just to get votes.

Everyone should watch the Michael Moore movie Sicko and feel embarrassed that our country is ranked 27th in the world by the World Health Organization. Our health care system is way too complicated and costly and must be changed. Even those of us with "good" health insurance can be ruined financially. This needs to stop. The sooner the better. Grandma's Kid
Defending the current administration is your choice and you can accept the responsibilty of what comes be it good or bad. And oh yeah, you can also explain to your grand kids why you made such a choice and why they are saddled with such debt and dependence on the bloated and inefficient federal government. Put some distance between you when they ask about their tax burden. Obama Lied-Transparency Died.
But come on Ken Gray, citing a Michael Moore film as a credible source of information is laughable. I am more embarrased that people actually listen to Moore than whatever the biased WHO pronounced as our ranking in health care. Like that group has no agenda, right? Go ask the Brits and Canadians how national healthcare is working for them. Ask the governor of California about entitlements.

Well, Jim I trust Michael more than I trust anyone at Fox news. As for the British and Canadians they have lower infant mortality rates than we do and they pay much less per capita than we do for health care. We pay more and get less than any civilized society. Is that what you really want to maintain? Long ago I came around to figuring out that Republicans are just fronting for corrupt narrow business interest. All of us are going to need health care much the same as we all need police and fire protection. Shouldn't we all receive essential services or are those things only for the super rich? I guess everyone has an agenda, right? Grandma's Kid

I’m rushing with this, figuring the links will go bad.
The fiscal irresponsibility of our government has gotten worse from bad and is shown by the deficit increase. What President Obama says is unreliable “no tax increases” and the “stimulus will add jobs”. The health care system is as bad as the government is with fiscal irresponsibility. Canada has its problems, especially with how long citizens have to wait for even minor surgery. Also doctors costs are high with the present US system for insurance due to lawsuits and they must keep employees just to process insurance. In Canada doctors don’t need as many employees as here.
I don’t like our health care system nor the present administration. You also have to evaluate the quality of the doctors and medical care because doctors make less in the government system. They may decide to become plumbers. The present health care system would start discriminating to only insure the most healthy if they could get their way and keep overcharging the hospitals for patients that they insure. Numerous insured have started calling and challenging the charges to hospitals from the insurance companies to the hospitals even though the insurance company is paying for it. Some companies respond to them by saying why do you care, you don’t have to pay for it.
The problem is everything the administration does is with no thought about fiscal responsibility so it is assumed it will be the same with health care. It will cost more and they will spend even more.
You can’t believe the economic reports. Today it shows the seasonal adjusted unemployment went down but when you look at the unadjusted figures, unemployment went up. The problem is the arbitrary adjustment to many of these economic reports. I think that the stock market has been manipulated so that stocks went up and the companies could issue new shares at higher prices, especially the banks and they appear to influence the administration.
This all looks to be socialism to me at the expense of the wage earners.
The US issues Treasuries to pay for the deficit and then we pay interest for mostly foreign countries to purchase them. The problem is that no one wants to hold or purchase the Treasuries if they get inflated dollars when the mature. Inflated dollars mean a lower value to the dollar so the foreign countries get far less when they convert the dollars to their own currency. A weak dollar means that imports go up too because the import prices must go up to get their normal price keeping in mind the exchange rates. A weak dollar does improve export prices in reverse because export prices go down with the dollar because we get more of the foreign currency because of the weak dollar.
Foreign countries are getting reluctant to purchase the treasuries at an increasing rate. The dollar most likely won’t be the world’s reserve currency but the foreign countries are being secretive about it. If the foreign countries told the truth then the dollar would go down further and make their investments in Treasuries even worse so what they do will be subtle over time in years.

I'll join this discussion to add only the following:
- I have a daughter and son-in-law who live in England, and a cousin who is a physician in England. Their health care system is unquestionably inferior to ours. Access is regulated and slow; public facilities and service compare to Grady Hospital. (Most recent example - it took 6 months to obtain approval for hernia repair surgery for my son-in-law. I had similar surgery a few years ago and went from diagnosis to completed surgery in 2 weeks.)
- Things are so bad with the public medical system in the UK a parallel "private pay" system has spontaneously appeared for those who can afford it. Access is prompt, choices abound, and treatment is superior. Ask any affluent Brit, or any British doctor, how well their public system works.
- My daughter comes to the US to have her dental work done. How many middle aged Brits have you known with straight, white teeth? (You don't want to know the results of the informal survey from our last trip to the UK.)
Well, Jim I trust Michael more than I trust anyone at Fox news.
Boy oh boy, headquarters is going to be stomping mad. Whenever an operative mentions Fox News they are also supposed to mention Limbaugh and Bush. By the way, why did you inject Fox into the conversation anyway Ken, for what point?
