Join the North Pole elves who are busy getting gifts ready for delivery by Santa in December by donating gifts to turn one North Fulton family’s Christmas into a joyous day!

MountainParkLife has committed to sponsoring a North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC) family for Christmas and invites the MPL community to make the holiday a special day for this family. Last year, NFCC provided more than 1500 families with the means to celebrate the holiday season. As a community, let’s help one family in crisis.

MPL must deliver the gifts, unwrapped, to NFCC on December 8 – time is short.

Please act now by committing to a specific gift! We need to be assured that all gifts will be donated for the family. Email -email- or post in this forum, indicating your gift giving preference. (Gift selections will be updated in this posting by the editor to keep the list accurate and up to date.) If needed, personal arrangements will be made for MPL to receive the gift(s) during November, or gifts can be put on the City Hall porch, in the designated bin, from December 1-5, from 5 AM to 5 PM. MPL will pick up the gifts each day.

Here are the gifts requested by the family. Reserve the gift you want to give now by letting us know via email or your post in this forum!

Tell your neighbors, friends and colleagues about the opportunity to help the sponsored family. If they do not have access to MPL, tell them to inquire about the program by calling Trish Hill (listed in the phone book or 770-992-7929). When the Civic Club sends out an email encouraging community participation, please spread the word to non-Civic Club members. Let’s all pitch in to create a happy and blessed Christmas for the family!

One generous resident has purchased the car seat for Sammuel and the Leapster for five year old Andrea! Thank you very much! The resident says Target has Leapster educational games available for $19.95. Anyone want to reserve one or more of the games?

Because of the giving nature of our community, it looks like our NFCC sponsored family is going to have a wonderful Christmas. We still have gift reservations available, so please give if you haven't yet to ensure the family's best Christmas ever!

To recap the reservations still available as of now:

For Sammuel:
Interactive baby toys
Winter clothes

For Andrea:
Leapster educational games
Clothes

For the Family:
Grocery and other store gift cards.

Gifts collection for the sponsored family begins next Monday, December 1, and continues through Friday, December 5. MPL will deliver the gifts to the NFCC on December 8.

If shopping the after Thanksgiving day sales, be sure to keep Sammuel and Andrea, our sponsored kids, in mind. Since the major items have been reserved and we're assured of being able to give them, you can buy what ever you want! Idea: write down their clothing sizes now and put the list in your wallet for easy reference! Remember, Andrea still needs educational Leapster games...

Deadline for gifts: December 5 at 6 PM! Drop your gift(s) off in the designated bin at the city hall side porch. Gift cards can be put in the city hall payments box at the front door in an envelope designated for MPL & NFCC. Help our sponsored family in crisis have a joyful holiday with high expectations for a better 2009! Let’s spoil them for one day. Here are some suggested gifts that are still needed. (If duplicate games, toys, etc. are given, a mpl-er will exchange any before the delivery to NFCC on December 8, so don’t fear… Your gift will be perfect!)

For Baby Sammuel:
Interactive baby toys
Winter clothes (sizes: Shirt 24 mo, Pants 18 mo, Shoes 4)

For Andrea:
Leapster educational games (so far, we have none!)
Clothes (sizes: Shirt 6, Pants 7, Shoes 12, Dress 6)

For the Family:
Grocery and other store gift cards.

Let's help NFCC, which is creating Christmas for thousands of families in crisis this holiday season -- with the help of people like the generous residents of Mountain Park.

Thanks to the generosity of Mountain Park residents, the North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC) family #8196 – our sponsored family -- is going to have a wonderful Christmas! Although almost all of the gifts requested by NFCC and the family were donated by residents, we used some of the financial donations to purchase the few small presents that were not. Therefore, tonight, we are packing up the gifts according to the NFCC directions with the family number on the bags for delivery tomorrow. Gifts include a donated red toaster for the household and EVERYTHING on the list for the kids, including a pretty purple jacket for Andrea and two shirt/pant sets for Sammuel. The family will also be receiving a Wal Mart gift card in the amount of the remaining donated funds with enough money to buy everything they need for a Christmas dinner and more. Mountain Park can be proud of the residents that pitched in to help one family end a year in crisis with a happy Christmas. We hope the happy ending to ’08 will lead to a better ’09 for the family.

Dropping off the MPL sponsored family’s Christmas gifts was quite a moving experience. Thanks to the generosity of the community, we were able to give the family everything on their list, and they will have a wonderful Christmas.

At mid-day, cars were lined up at the curb next to the bottom floor of the old Burlington Coat Factory building in Roswell, with other sponsors offloading colorful shopping bags and big plastic bags full of gifts, big boxed toys and bikes. A volunteer greeter assisted us and the gifts inside the building, which was organized in a checker board square design, each square big enough to hold one family’s gifts. About half of the squares dotted throughout the building floor were filled with bags and boxes and bikes -- bikes were everywhere! Pink ones and blue ones and pink ones… Most of the bikes were small with training wheels…

Each square was a Christmas waiting to happen! It was easy to imagine squeals of delight coming from the squares, as if gifts were being opened. While checking in and giving the sheet with the MPL sponsor number and our sponsored family’s number, one of the volunteers mentioned that more than eight hundred sponsors signed up this year. That means more than 800 families in crisis will have a merry Christmas day. How cool is that? The 800 or so squares being filled up with gifts in the building truly represented a lot of love and hope.

Thank you to everyone who donated a gift this year. If you wanted to give but missed the deadline, NFCC has a Santa Shop for people not in the Sponsored Family Program. Learn more at link However, time is running out for this option – note the December 10 and 13 delivery times, and act quickly.

The folks at North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC) sent a thank you card to the community of mountainparklife.com for sponsoring the family in crisis at Christmas time, along with a handwritten note from the mom expressing great thanks for giving her children a merry Christmas. The NFCC sponsor program helped 1,650 local families and 3,464 children have a holiday filled with joy!

Thank you to everyone who contributed gifts for the mountainparklife.com sponsored family!
