Congratulations to Mayor Still and the Council. They successfully stuck it to the taxpayer again.

From Ani Dadron: My dog Gretchen died peacefully last week while we were up in Maryland. She's buried on my friends farm near the miniature donkey's corral. Thanks to all for your kind words about the good ole big red dog. She was a sweetheart.

Don't let BUSHophobia close your mind during this critical period for our nation. The following link came to me in an email from one of our neighbors, a really level-headed, community kind of guy. I felt some would want to ponder the "CHANGE" they may be rushing towards.

Jim - There are tons of videos on YouTube that show McCain in a bad light, as well.
McCain says he wants to reform Washington? He's been in Washington for 26 years. Why hasn't he done something before now?
McCain says he has ideas to get the economy going. Well, go to Washington and share them with the President, introduce a bill, and he would get all the credit. Why doesn't he do it? Because he doesn't have any new ideas.
There will be no change with McCain. He will continue to follow Bush's policies, which has gotten us to where we are now - with the majority of the Country not liking the direction we're going.
As an Indepedent, I would have choosen McCain, but when he picked Sarah Palin I could see he was not the same John McCain who ran for President in 2000. Instead he was going to run on gimmicks.
And then when McCain and Palin began attacking Obama personally, (which he had accused Bush of doing to him in 1999/2000) instead of address the issues and showing us what he wants to do and how... I knew there was no way I would vote for that nonsense.
Jim - As a former politican yourself, you know when all a politican can do is bad mouth his opponent, that he's really got nothing.

Hey Birdwatcher I totally agree. I'm disappointed with McCain. While Obama always seems so professional and well thought out, McCain comes across as angry and that scares me. In my opinion McCain was always well respected by people of both parties for being a moderate. Now he's just slinging mud. Even a good Republican friend of mine told me the other day that he really doesn't like McCain, but he's voting for him only because he's on the Republican ticket.
I think both parties are sick of the mud slinging. It's not going to get us through these rough times ahead. I was surprised to hear David Gergen (R) say tonight that Americans better put their seat belts on because tough times are ahead no matter who becomes President. I think I'd rather have a calm person who can weigh the matter instead of a hot head that maybe should be retiring.
Kind of shows the Republicans and their supporters in their true light.
It also explains why, each election cycle, yard signs in Mountain Park supporting Democratic candidates get stolen while those supporting the Republican candidates are left behind.
All the Republican Party has is fear mongering; none of the candidates have any ideas to help the American people (unless, of course, you're part of that lucky upper 5% of wealthy Americans). All they can do is try to discredit their opponents.
Which is how Bush got elected eight years ago. "Be afraid...be very afraid..."
And we all see how well that turned out.
Well, this time around we should be afraid. Because while you haven't been paying attention, America has been bought out from under us by foreign interests; your jobs have been shipped overseas; the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer.
Now, I'm not saying that the Democrats are the end-all and be-all of saviors of the Americian people. The fact is, it will take decades to dig this country out of the hole that the Republicans have left us in.
But a vote for McCain/Palin is a vote against your own best interest. If you're having money problems now, don't think the Republicans are going to help you out. They aren't. They'll simply continue to take advantage of your naïveté and lack of interest in the world around you while they pass more and more legislation to help themselves.
And they'll be laughing all the way to the bank.
Republicans = big government and big taxes. And if you don't believe that, just do a little research and look into what has happened to America in the last eight years.

Ack Ack,
Oh yeah? Think again!
My McCain sign was stolen from my yard just this past week. Scott McKay
