Join in the 4th of July Parade or Line the Streets to Cheer it on!

Many residents claim July 4th is the best day of the year in town because the community comes together for one of its biggest activities, the annual city parade. Residents decorate cars, trucks, trailers and bikes at the Community Building parking lot starting at 10:30 AM or at home “in secret” and join the now 27 year tradition of the Independence Day parade. After decorating the vehicles, paraders join together at 11 AM for a brief ceremony at the gazebo which includes the MPVFR leading everyone in the pledge of allegiance and the National Anthem. Then, the parade begins with a cry of “start your engines!” Last year, more than 25 festively decorated vehicles participated.

Residents that choose not to participate in the parade still have an important job – lining the streets as spectators. Therefore, all residents have a role in a fun tradition! Get ready to line the main routes of Mountain Park Road (especially by the pool, which is a favorite spot), Cardinal Drive and West Lake. Cheer the parade on!
